It was an honor to be interviewed by Fr. Michael Weldon, O.F.M. Father Michael is documenting the history of the Franciscan Order in Phoenix in preparation for the departure of the Franciscans from St. Mary’s Basilica this year of 2023. This interview focused on the good works of the Franciscans in Phoenix with particular focus on the creation of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, the world’s largest St. Vincent de Paul.
I had the great fortune of being president of St. Vincent de Paul, a wonderful organization made up of people dedicated to service for all human beings. The story of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in this city is not only one of people putting their faith into action, it is also a story of how a community service organization can be built. And, it is also a significant part of the history of our city and state.
