The Abeyta Sisters: Rita Brock-Perini  & Josie Quinby

Picture
Daughters of a Marine Corps World War II and Korean War veteran and two-time Commander of American Legion Post 41, they lived their early childhood on a small farm in east Phoenix and  eventually moved into Golden Gate Barrio.  The sisters talk about Father Albert and the importance of how he instilled the ethic of service.  Mr. Abeyta had the sisters become very involved through American Legion Post 41 which was also a place that instilled service to the community.  Understanding the difficulty of farm workers, they become involved with Cesar Chavez.  Rita will have a military career as an officer and Josie will have a career establishing programs in bilingual education.  Both sisters discuss the importance of a legacy of service to others.
